STEVEN PURTEE

After graduating from Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, Steve pursued his 
studies in Glass Painting in Columbus, OH. Ten years later, he found himself at 
the Yale School of Drama and the Art Students League refining skills in scene 
painting and drawing and painting.  Mr. Purtee did a year residency at Yale 
Repertory Theatre as the Scenic Artist in charge of all the stage productions. 
Soon after this he joined Local 829 and launched his career in the scenic arts. 

His Broadway credits include: Aspect of Love, Waiting for Godot, Guys and Dolls, 
Jekyll and Hyde, Sunset Boulevard, 
Smoky Joe's Cafe, Legs Diamond, Anything Goes, Victor/Victoria, Carousel, A 
Christmas Carol, and Sound of Music.

Film credits include:
The Hard Way, Jacob's Ladder, Jackknife, Stealing Home Angel Heart, It Could 
Happen to You, The Horse Whisperer, You Have Mail, Heart Burn, Secret of My 
Success, Hello Again, The Squeeze, The Money Pit, A League of Their Own, Meet 
Joe Black, Kate and Leopold.

Steve has been a trusted employee and Charge Artist for Scenic Art Studios for
many years. Some of his Broadway Charge Artist credits include: 
Chronicle of a Death Fortold, Uncle Vanya, Master Class, Fences, Joseph and 
the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, A Funny thing Happened on the Way to the 
Forum, Hairspray, Thoroughly Modern Millie,  Little Shop of Horrors, Young 
Frankenstein, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Legally Blonde, and most recently Hair 
and Minskys.
